Sue Ennis
Artist's Biography
Sue Ennis started her artistic journey at a much later time in life. After a successful career in the financial services industry, she attended schooling at the Toronto School of Art. It has been ten years since then, and she has made tremendous headway in that short period of time. Working on both oil stick on mylar and acrylic on canvas mediums, she is able to diversify her vision of the images real and imagined that she sees. “I will continue on this journey, I am so happy to have discovered it!”
Artist Statement
I am a Canadian artist best recognized for my abstract paintings. In my art, shapes appear to float inside multi-
layered fields of colour and texture. Nothing is overly defined, only suggested.
In our technology-based, digital world, we can sometimes find ourselves rushed, overwhelmed, and
out of touch with each other and ourselves. Everything is to be grasped in a "soundbite" or within so many
characters . My paintings offer an opportunity to pause, to consider, to “be with” the paintings in a moment of connection
and contemplation. I want my paintings to make you slow down, to experience calm, colour, and to let suggestions or memories bubble up into your consciousness. Colour is such an energizing phenomenon that I want the viewer to appreciate the
colours for themselves, to have an experience of observing them.
